Kanab, UT is the home to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Best Friends is the world's largest no-kill animal sanctuary. The 1,800 animal facility is funded entirely by donations. Best Friends is located in the very scenic Kanab Canyon, which has Indian ruins, petroglyphs, and numerous hiking opportunities.

Kanab reminds me of what Moab must have been like twenty years ago. The town is small, but there are several motels. Kanab is surrounded by many National Parks and Monuments: Zion, Bryce, Escalante, Lake Powell, North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. In addition, there are numerous canyons, ghost towns, Indian ruins and trails to explore. If you don't mind biking on dirt roads, there are mtn bike rides galore in the area. In addition, there are numerous slot canyons both in Utah and Arizona (nearby).
