Phoenix

On January 14, 2007 I did my first full marathon!  It was the Phoenix Rock and Roll Marathon.  There were 70 bands along the course, plus hoards of people standing beside the roads cheering us on.  It ended up being the world's largest marathon:   40,000 people registered, 38,000 started, and 30,000 finished.  It was so much fun that I'm planning on doing it next year.  I was able to take a few photos along the marathon course.  26.2 miles, baby -- I DID IT !!!!  Hopefully the first of many.

While in Phoenix, I also visited the Heard Museum, the Mining and Mineral Museum, the Phoenix Zoo, and the Barrett-Jackson car auction.  The car auction had 1700 cars on display, and about that many vendors.  I could have spent a lot more time there.  It is the most amazing collection of PERFECT automobiles I have ever seen.  It would be worth returning to Arizona next year just to see the cars on display.  But I plan to return and do the marathon -- and improve my time!
