Drew and I competed in the Park City 5 K snowshoe race. This was Utah's only qualifier for the Snowshoe Nationals, so there were people from various states competing. It was very cold (around 20 degrees) at the start of the race. Everyone was waiting in their cars until the last minute. My 6th place finish didn't allow me to qualify for the Nationals. For some reason, my age group (40-49) had 12 participants. If I was in any other age category, I would have placed! Fortunately I wasn't planning on competing in the Nationals at Mt Hood anyway. I'll try again next year for a Personal Best.
After the race we took a ride on the Heber Creeper. That very slow train is aptly named. It would have been a great for a nap if the seats weren't so uncomfortable (plus there was annoying country music played on the speaker system). Unfortunately, the Heber Creeper workers didn't provide any narrated history. What good is a historic railroad with out the history? Information would have made the train ride much more enjoyable.
