For Drew's 45th birthday, I took him to Washington state.  Drew had never been west of Utah, so the Pacific Ocean was a brand new experience for him.  In July, Utah was in the scorching hot 100 degree temps -- and smoky fires were raging.  It was great to escape to the Pacific north west.  Temperatures were cooler and there was still a significant amount of snow above 5000 feet. 

We spent one day in Seattle and then drove to Port Angeles and Olympic National Park.  We backpacked in the mountains, hiked on the beach, and then kayaked the last day. The food and weather was great, as you can see from the photographs.
