Drew and I have volunteered at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary during the holiday season for the past two years.  We both find working with the animals (and Best Friends staff) to be very rewarding. Kanab is a 12 hour round trip drive from Layton, so we try and stop at some of the national parks to break up the long drive.

While I was in Ecuador, Drew went to Mesa Verde's 100 year anniversary.  The National Park placed candles in the Native American dwellings and lit them up at night.
